Сeremonial Bystander Role in Commercial Negotiations PDF Print E-mail
Коммерческие переговоры

Here's a small story/best-practice. Perhaps the well-known, but still. In the final negotiations on the price, terms of contract, etc., in all cases where a new (preferably large) client, attracting the participation of a "ceremonial bystander" - CEO, or even the founder / owner of our glorious company. Attributes "ceremonial" says about some certain experience behind that, distinguished appearance, and so on - in this case we don't need a special explanation. The main purpose of his participation is to establish a direct contact with the client's management and, after a meeting, invite them for a lunch / dinner. For informal communication. This graceful move will help to know what's going on with the contract, what are the prospects for contract extension / recurrence, and all that "pent" at the customer.

Weekend in Kyiv PDF Print E-mail
User Rating: / 1
PoorBest

I spent an unforgettable weekend in Kiev. It became a memorable, because once, I went to Kiev was not at work, and I had time and plenty of opportunities to talk informally with my (former) colleagues in the negotiations.

Kiev, my friends, was much closer to the European model of negotiation and business culture in general.

We've been discussing, arguing, sharing experiences. Watch for update. We agreed that since now at this site Ukrainian materials in the negotiations will be published as well.

Sincerely,

Andrew

Negotiations On The Go PDF Print E-mail

This is now that I understand very well the advantage of a business lounge. I am on my way to the airport and catch myself in a thought that I will need to participate in a teleconference just half an hour before departure in order to prepare the customer meeting. Though, business lounge would not be the best appropriate place, it is too many of "target audience" in there, which may potentially hear my speech.

Airport does not fit at all such activities, for the reasons of its loud crowds and planes. In addition, my Nokia started to malfunction unexpectedly.

Conclusion # 1: it is needed a good and reliable telephone device for a traveling businessman which has good quality of microphone and dynamics (the rest of functions such as email, we etc. would not be such important today as we have iPads for these reasons). Who would give a recommendation for such a good quality telephone-only device?

Conclusion #2: it would have sense to install meeting rooms/ tele-cabins in the airports. I am sure that 2-3 such cabins isolated from the rest of airport / business lounge -- would be very much appreciated and used by business travelers.
